Capercaillie Goran and Kvarner were released into the open air

Croatian Radio and Television Contribution: The Capercaillie is not hunting game in Croatia

The Capercaillie, called Goran and Kvarner, was released today in a large aviary measuring 72 times 72 meters in order to get used to life in nature. Hunters call it to return to the wilderness, and a total of 14 Capercaillie will spend maybe two years in this huge cage before being released into the wild. The Capercaillie Revitalization Project is funded by the County of Primorje-Gorski Kotar.

Capercaillie Association Prezid, Croatia

President of the Association PhD Don Ivica Križ, a great bird lover, founded the Capercaillie Animal Protection Association on January 19, 2012.

The main objective of the Association is the protection of Capercaillie, a strictly protected mountain bird from the Ice Age (Tetrao urogallus), and breeding and repopulation in nature with monitoring.

He was greatly supported in this enthusiastic venture by PhD Josip Malnar, Vice-President of the Croatian Hunting Association and President of the Hunting Federation of the PGŽ, and Mr Antun Arh, President of the Hunting Association "Tetrijeb" Čabar, as well as longtime hunter Mr Ante Džaja.

In addition to the cultivation, monitoring and protection of Capercaillie, the Association of the only one in the Republic of Croatia performs wildlife photography on Capercaillie.

At the newly opened Central European Farm in the heart of Gorski Kotar, we offer you a unique wildlife photography experience.
